Update 3.5.08

Been a little busy so I apologize for the time between entries. But let's get back to business. So far I look like Miss Cleo with my Shaq trade predictions. The Suns improved to 3-4 with the diesel squeeking by the up and coming Blazers last night. He cashed in for 6 points, 13 boards and a couple blocks. In the defense of the Suns management, there was a need for a change here in Phoenix because although the team was successful and exciting it was just starting to leave a stale taste in everyone's mouth. I was lucky enough to be at the Shaq debut and I must tell you the atmosphere was E L E C T R I C(stolen from Mr. Burgundy). I haven't been to a sporting event with that much anticipation ever. First off, that guy is massive so the sight of him alone is like a museum exhibit but from the moment he was announced in the starting lineup as the Big Aristotle to his first backboard flexing dunk was IN CRED I BLE. So what this trade will be looked back upon in my opinion will be like Emmitt Smith to the Cardinals. HUGE name to create some buzz but one lackluster performance after another that will never show any real positive impact other than may be the locker room but we all know the games are won on the court and you can't talk your way into being young again. And as for Shawn Marion, he does make the Heat more athletic and versatile but he doesn't help the Heat win games. It's interesting to see probably the most recognizable coach in all of sports and a future hall of famer Pat Riley not be able to reach 20 wins with a team that is definately not the worst team in the NBA on paper. Now I will vent on my perspective about coaches in pro sports. If you don't have the players you're not gonna be a good coach. You ever heard the phrase you can't polish a turd? Well it's true. Name any "great" coach in history and look at the players he had around him. And you might say well he made those players that good. BS. Coaches help teach strategy, they don't teach natural ability or playmaking abilities. If that was the case their would be a lot more Steve Nash's and Jason Kidd's. In conclusion, if you're not watching the battles in the Western Conference right now you're not a sports fan. Oh and next time I'm gonna talk about the greatest athlete ever, TW.

Until Next Time...

2.18.08Well hello there boys and girls. Good News in the sports world, the dunk contest was actually fun to watch. In case you didn't catch it, I highly suggest you head over to youtube and type in dwight howard dunk contest. Also it appears that the Jason Kidd deal is gonna go down and the Mavs are giving up Diop, Devon Harris, Keith Van Horn and a couple first rounders. Is that a good deal, yes, will the mavs win a championship now, no. It's too little, too late for the Mavs and the only real deals in the west are L.A., Phoenix, and San Antonio. Ya New Orleans is in first place but they don't have the depth or power down in the paint to win playoff series. The Suns are also very iffy depending on which Shaq shows up. If we get the Shaq that plays as good as he talks then watch out ladies because we're gonna make an impact. San Antonio is always gonna be tough with so much playoff experience and Tim Duncan. L.A.'s another hit or miss but with the 2 big men down low healthy and Kobe back at 100% they will definately be tough. Basketball is actually a lot of fun to watch especially in the West. Baseball on the other, is turning into one big steroid investigation and it's quite frankly ridiculous. Andy Pettitetetetetettttte felt the need to come back out and speak on behalf of Roger Clemens saying he has a bad memory about some statements he made. He stuck to his guns, said he loved and looked up to Clemens, but he did not lie and so on and so on. In conclusion, it's a very sad time for Baseball right now and quite the opposite in the NBA. So tune in Wednesday night for the Shaq premier and cross your fingers.

Until Next Time...

2.12.08Been almost a week since my last blog. To be perfectly honest, I don't really have to much to rant about. I was in bed all weekend with the flu bug and just caught up on all the pointless TV that somehow keeps my attention. Something that I was looking forward to was the Flavor of Love 3 premier. Flavor Flav's back again for the lucky number 3rd time looking for some true love. The people that cast this show really are geniuses. From the looks of some of the species they picked this time around it looks like Season 4 will be inevitable. I will definately be elaborating on some of the characters as the season unfolds and there is no doubt it will be entertaining. A huge incident happened on the ice this weekend between the Florida Panthers and the Buffalo Sabres. Richard Zednik, a defenseman for the Panthers was incidentally cut on his throat by his teamates skate and rushed to the hospital immediately. The ice was disturbing to look at with an obscene amount of blood from the spot of the incident all the way to the bench. The good news, Zednik was declared stable later that night with no recovery date or specifics described to my knowledge. On a lighter note, the 3rd smallest crowd ever tuned into the Grammy's this year for their 50th Anniversary bash. Note to the Grammy committee, stop celebrating drug addicts and rewarding them multiple times. It sends a bad message and leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth. And Congrats to HERBIE HANCOCK!!!

2.6.08So as many of you probably know, the Phoenix Suns officially traded Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks for Shaquille O'Neal. Not quite sure what your feelings are but I was personally shocked and somewhat disgusted at the deal. I feel bad for both parties to be quite honest and I'll tell you why; the Suns got a washed up legend(Arizona Cardinals move) that they think will somehow get them over the top to win a title when he couldn't even help his own team reach the double digit mark in the win column. On the other side I also feel bad for Shawn Marion and the Heat. Here's why; they picked up great talent in Shawn Marion for Shaq which is a great move but the bad part is Nash didn't go with him. Marion will not have anywhere near the production with the Miami Heat he did with Nash filling up his dinner plate everynight. So for 21 mil a year the Miami Heat got a "hopeful" rebound machine in Shawn Marion and a point guard that will be as good as Miami's current record. Marcus hustles and plays some great defense but thats where it ends. He looks like a lost child on the offensive end waiting for someone else to make it happen which lucky for him he'll have front row seats to watch Dwayne Wade go one-on-five every game and throw up circus shots that somehow go in 3 outta 10 times. So in conclusion, bad deal for both sides but I sure hope I'm wrong for the sake of the Phoenix Suns and their fans because those floor seats are too damn expensive to just to watch a fossil trounce down the court and dunk it 3 times a game.

Until Next time...

2.4.08What the hell happened last night? Last night I was waiting for Ashton Kutcher to pop out and let the entire crowd know they just got punk’d. Nothing against the Giants defense because they played outta their minds but is it really time for Eli Manning to get a Superbowl ring? The correct answer to that question is no it is not and I wasn’t so sure the answer would ever be yes w/ him.

Tiger Woods also brought home another victory overseas at the Dubai Desert Classic. He came storming back on the back nine to shoot 31 which everyone thought would at best get him in the playoff. But once again the competition just seemed to fold up their lawn chairs and head on home. I’m a very huge fan of Tiger Woods and everything he represents but I just hope someone in the world can step it up sometime and put some pressure on the worlds #1. Oh and JB Holmes won the FBR in a playoff over Mickelson.

Until next time...
