A website is a necessity if you own a business, period. Now more than ever consumers are not only searching online for products/services but also researching businesses as well. Even if you don’t intend on actively promoting your website it is very reassuring from a consumer standpoint to see that your business is represented online, the right way.
Do it right the first time
If you build it, they won’t come. You’ve seen them, we’ve all seen them. Websites that were created by the business owner themselves or some generic template with distorted pictures inserted throughout. My honest opinion is that if you prefer to go this route “just to have a website” then don’t have one at all. As the picture states above, websites are the new storefronts and consumers that work with you are seeing your website. What type of image are you portraying? Are you proud of your website? Is it missing some type of functionality you would like to incorporate?
Websites are more than just design
Websites are built to function as a tool to help grow your business. The number 1 thing to think about when building a website is what are we going to do to make sure that visitors are turning into customers? Attention spans are short and getting shorter by the day. People want their information fast and simple. If you remodel kitchens show them a great picture from a previous project laid out nicely on the homepage with a featured discount and at least 2 options about how they can get their free quote(preferably email and phone). Sounds pretty simple doesn’t it, well it is. The sad reality is that even “website design companies” still can’t get this right. Make a few simple changes like this and watch your conversion rate increase dramatically.
I had a great website built but my phone does not ring
Don’t expect it to. If you are not actively promoting your website or paying someone to do it you will be just another needle in the haystack. With the right techniques and processes implemented both on and off your website you can achieve very high rankings in search engines which will drive traffic, leads and most importantly, sales. This process is called SEO or Search Engine Optimization.
