Why Twitter is so popular…
Because people care, about everything.
Twitter is blowing up at a ridiculous rate. Some people probably ask themselves why is something so simple so popular, what’s the catch? Well, once again simplicity trumped all and left plenty of people sitting back saying, “Why didn’t I think of that it seems so obvious?” Obvious indeed and this application is not only simple, but very effective marketing, yes marketing. Everyone on there is marketing something, whether it’s as obvious as news channels posting the latest news for potential readers or the teenage girl tweeting that she is going to the mall hoping someone requests to meet her there or simply get a few comments on her status.Twitter as a marketing vehicle
First off, it’s free. Secondly, nearly everyone now-a-days is on there so the audience is definitely there. The main reason this is such a great marketing machine and you see everyone from Oprah to Sportscenter using it is because people genuinely like to know what’s going on with, in this case, a billionaire talkshow host and the lastest sports news on the hour almost every hour. You have a good amount of followers, post something of interest with a reference link, people click it, it’s that simple. As it stands now Sportscenter has something over 44,000 followers and I would be very curious to see what their website traffic has been like since the addition of Twitter because my guess is very substantial. Anyways, I felt like making a rant about Twitter today, I would like to hear your thoughts and as you noticed there is no link in this post to my Twitter account.That’s because I have not jumped on the Twitter wagon yet and won’t say that I never will because never is a long time but at this point I just don’t have the time or I guess “care” for it right now.
